Best Single-to-Double Convertible Strollers of 2025
Jump to Section
Whether you are expecting your second child, having twins, or simply keeping your options open in case you decide to expand your brood later, a convertible stroller is a fantastic option. A convertible stroller allows you to add a second seat, transforming it into a double stroller. In some cases, you can even add a small ride-along board for a third child to catch a ride! This expandability can be a godsend if you want to tow around several children at the same time.
If that wasn’t enough, these strollers can also accommodate infant car seats, turning them into a bonafide travel system (note: this varies by model and may require adapters).

Tandem vs. Side-by-Side
On most convertible strollers the seats are stacked in tandem (one in front of the other). However, there are a couple of products on the market like the Donkey 5 Mono that can convert from a single stroller into a side-by-side double stroller (more on this product later). To learn more about the differences between these two types of double strollers, click here.We carry a variety of convertible strollers that will make you and your little one the talk of the town! - Included Bassinet: Yes
- Travel System Friendly: Yes
- Ride-Along Board Compatible: Comfort Wheeled Board
- Free-Standing Fold: Yes
- Basket Capacity: Under-seat Basket: 22 lbs. / Luggage Basket: 22 lbs.
As previously mentioned, the Donkey 5 Mono is one of the only strollers on the market that converts from a single to a double side-by-side stroller. The seats are positioned a little bit higher on the stroller to be closer to their parents and can be used in a few configurations. The Mono configuration is single-use, with either the bassinet or toddler seat used with the side storage basket.
When you are ready, you can use the stroller in Duo Mode by removing the luggage basket, expanding the frame width-wise, and adding a bassinet or second toddler seat. This stroller can also be used in Twin Mode with a second bassinet.
Because of the equal weight distribution, this side-by-side stroller is a dream to push and has the benefit of having a full 50 lbs. weight limit for its second seat (unlike other strollers on our list). With its soft-touch fabrics and padding, children stay cozy, and parents will love how small this stroller compacts when folded, making it easy to stow in your trunk.

Included in the box are a toddler seat, car seat adapters, and a small (removable) shopping basket that can be used when the stroller is in single mode.
