Stair Mounting Kit

This helped save me from drilling holes in my stairs but it wasn't wide enough for the actual baby gate. I ended up screwing a piece of wood behind it and next to it to make it wider for the baby gate screw points. Just be awake this is something you may need to do depending on what baby gate you have.

The instructions provided with this kit are very poor. They are very poorly written, and not detailed enough. The pictures are too small and do not provide nearly enough detail. For example, it is unclear all the way through what side of the banister / spindle they are referring to / working on in any given photo or step. Also, a photo showing the position and clearance of the top /bottom of the piece of wood in relation to the handrail and baseboard / floor would be helpful. Unfortunately, the installation video on their web site is effectively a slideshow with the same poor instructions and photos. Not helpful at all.

Second, Qdos marketing materials all state that this adapter "Works with all brands of baby safety gates up to 34” tall, both hardware and pressure mount." This is simply not true. I am using a Safety 1st Ready To Install gate. The mounting brackets for this gate are too wide to screw into the piece of wood provided in the kit.

I love this. When we shake the gate that's mounted to this nothing move. Even if we try to push the gate over.

It works perfectly. It was a little too long for my spindles as I mounted it on the spindles going up the stairs. I quick cut with a skill saw did the trick. It solid and allowed to fasten the security onto it

I really like QDos products. I have two of these stair mounting kit and one baseboard kit and everything works as expected. It’s very solid (if you install it properly).
