Built to Protect

The Specs:
  • Forward-facing (with built-in harness) suitable for children 30 - 65 lbs. or up to 49" with vehicle belt and tether
  • Forward-facing (with built-in harness) suitable for children 30 - 40 lbs. or up to 49" with UAS (Universal Anchorage System) and tether
  • High back booster suitable for children 40 - 120 lbs. or 38" - 57"
  • Dimensions: 22.5" L x 18.5" W x 26"–33" H
    Product Weight: 25.8 lbs.

The ROYL has an all-steel frame, and the shell is lined with energy-absorbing EPP foam and Aeroflex™ Side Impact Protection. The seat secures in place using a UAS system (or vehicle lap belt) as well as a tether for further stability. True Tension™ doors make it simple to secure the car seat without the use of major elbow grease. Short of wrapping your child in bubble wrap, this is as safe as a car seat can get!

Additionally, Nuna doesn’t use fire retardant chemicals on any of the materials, yet it still is flame resistant for extra protection.

The seat can be used in forward-facing mode (with vehicle belt and tether) until your child reaches 65 lbs (or 49”), then the seat can be converted to a high back booster suitable for children up to 120 lbs (or 57”). Many booster seats have a weight restriction of 100 lbs or less, so we love that Nuna has extended the range of use with the ROYL.

A Cocoon of Comfort

Whether car rides are a few mins or a few hours, nothing is worse than sitting in a seat that isn’t comfortable! Luckily your little one is in for a cushy ride that will keep them happy (and hopefully quiet) longer.

The ROYL is a top-to-bottom experience of exceptional comfort features:

Headrest: The headrest has 8 different positions and can be easily adjusted with one hand. As your child grows, they’ll always have a perfect placement for resting their weary head. In addition, the seat has 4 recline options!

Harness: When using the ROYL in car seat mode, your little one stays in place using the no-rethread 5-point harness, which effortlessly fits growing riders. Nuna also designed magnetic harness keepers to hold the harness buckles out of the way, making it easier for parents to load and unload their children.

Calf Rest: Moving down the seat, we come to the adjustable calf rest, which is a great feature that you don’t see on most car seats. It offers youngsters some relief as their legs usually dangle in mid-air when sitting in a car seat.

Airflow: The ROYL seat is covered in washable ventilation panels, giving it a breathable quality that makes it super comfortable to sit in, even on warm days.

Have a Seat

The Nuna ROYL Harnessed Booster Car Seat grows with your little one well into childhood — seriously, this baby has a weight capacity of 120 lbs.!

Everything on the ROYL is of impeccable quality — from the materials and design to the safety and comfort features. Parents can feel confident that the Nuna ROYL will keep their child safe while cruising in style!

A couple of things to note: The ROYL is designed as only a forward-facing seat and booster — this means it can’t be used until your child is a least 30 lbs. Rear-facing car seats are by far the safest for babies and we highly recommend keeping them in that position until they reach the height or weight restrictions of their car seat. In many cases, this means your child won’t move into a forward-facing seat until they are between 3 and 5 years old.

A great precursor seat to the ROYL would be the RAVA Convertible Car Seat, which allows rear-facing use from birth (5 lbs) to 40 lbs (or 49"). For a full in-depth review of the RAVA Convertible Car Seat, click here.
