As many parents start to transition from their infant bucket seat into a convertible car seat, they often come across Clek car seats – because they are made in Canada, and are safe, safe, SAFE! With the overwhelming number of seats on the market, we hope to clarify a common question: What is the difference between the Foonf and the Fllo?

At first glance, the Clek Fllo looks just like the top-of-the-line seat, the Clek Foonf. This is because the actual seat is the same design, and most of the differences are in the base.

Let’s take a look at them!

Installation

THE FOONF

  • The Foonf features rigid latches for use in forward-facing mode, making forward-facing installation a breeze.
  • The rigid latches can be used in combination with the vehicle seat belt, giving you an installation so secure you'd swear it was part of the vehicle itself!

THE FLLO

  • The Fllo features soft latches that can be used for forward or rear-facing installations .
  • Remember that when the combined weight of the child and the car seat is 65 lbs, you must use the vehicle seatbelt as opposed to a UAS install [when Foonf is forward-facing, you can use rigid latches and vehicle seat belt].

Overall, the biggest difference in installation between the 2 seats is the rigid latches that the Foonf is equipped with when installing forward-facing. Both seats use the same built-in lock-off system for installing the seats rear-facing.

Positioning

THE FOONF

  • The Foonf has three different recline positions that the seat can be locked into.
  • This allows it to adapt to fit more vehicle seats [without the use of pool noodles or rolled up towels to achieve a proper recline angle in many cases].

THE FLLO

  • The Fllo has one set angle for rear-facing installations, and one set angle for forward-facing installations.
  • If a proper recline angle cannot be achieved in your vehicle with the rear-facing wedge, a rolled up towel or pool noodles may be necessary.

In rear-facing positions, the Fllo uses a rear-facing wedge that pops out from the base of the seat – this is what creates the necessary angle for a rear-facing installation. The Foonf has a recline-foot that is a separate piece that must be attached to the base when used in rear-facing mode [it is included in your box].

Weight

  • Because the Fllo doesn’t use the rigid LATCH connectors or smooth recline feature, it is about 10 lbs lighter! It also sits a bit lower on your vehicle seat.
  • Although the weight of the seat doesn’t matter much once it is installed, if you’re constantly swapping seats between cars or travelling then the Fllo may be a better fit for your family.
  • Both the Foonf & Fllo have the same minimum weight limit of 14 lbs without the additional purchase of the Infant Thingy. The Foonf can be used to 40 lbs rear-facing, while the Fllo can be used to 50 lbs!!!

What They Share

  • Both the Foonf & the Fllo fit 3-across in most standard-sized vehicles.
  • Both the Foonf and the Fllo come complete with energy-absorbing foam layers on both the inside and outside of the frame, which takes force away from the child in a crash. They also have a steel anti-rebound bar that is used in rear-facing mode to prevent rebound in a frontal crash and rotation in a side impact crash.
  • Both seats are also equipped with advanced side impact protection to ensure maximum head protection.
  • The Foonf and the Fllo both accommodate children 14 lbs through 40 lbs in rear-facing mode. With an "infant-thingy", the seats can be used from 5 lbs!
  • The Foonf and the Fllo can be used in forward-facing mode from 22 lbs until 65 lbs. However, Snuggle Bugz and Clek recommend keeping your child rear facing until they have outgrown the height or weight requirements before turning them forward-facing.
